The Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation were put into effect in 1782-1789. The Articles Of Confederation had many successes. It declared freedom from the tyrannical rule of the English. It also ended the Revolutionary War through the Treaty of Paris. These documents guided the young nation through the critical period at its birth. It made the passage of the Northwest Ordinance, which provided for orderly admission of states to the union. The Articles of Confederation had it's own way of constructing a government. They focused on giving less power to the Congress. Some powers of the Congress were:
~ Conduct foreign affairs.
~ Make treaties, declare war.
~ Maintain an army and a navy.
~ Coin money.
~ Establish post offices.
These are the many successes of the Articles of Confederation.
