Richard Henry Lee: A Great Patriot, Revolutionary, and Leader

Many people are misinformed about the beginnings of the United States. Most have never even heard of the Articles of Confederation: the first U.S. form of government. Out of the first real Presidents of the U.S. one stands high above the rest; President Richard Henry Lee. He and his family were the leaders of the Southern Colony separatist movement. His communication breakthrough between the colonies helped to unite them as one. Lee’s actions caused our precious Declaration of Independence to be written. He would have written it himself if it were not for his ailing wife that he compassionately rushed home from the continental congress to support her.

For these reasons and many others not mentioned Richard Henry Lee deserves to be honored with a monument as a testament to his greatness. His contributions as a patriot, revolutionary, and leader of a young country deserve a bust of bronze in the heart of Philadelphia.
