Well everyone, we are closely approaching the end of another school year at Bayside and Moreno Valley Community Learning Center. The year opened on a positive note in with most of the teaching staff at both schools returning for another year. We welcomed three new teachers to the staff, Ms. Carol Leap and Mrs. Debbie Marsh at Bayside and Mr. Fred Knox at the Charter Middle School. We have also seen increasing numbers of our students passing both the English /Language Arts and Math sections of the California High School Exit Exam. We are also expecting to graduate another 33 students this year, maintaining the progress we have made over the past several years in helping students reach their goal of graduation from high school. Just as important this year has been Bayside’s ability to maintain an overall increase in its Average Daily Attendance (ADA). The District goal of 1% increase for all schools, of which Bayside has overwhelmingly exceeded, was met with the assistance of students and parents. PARENTS, you are contributors to Bayside and Moreno Valley Community Learning Center’s experiencing the successes they have achieved this year. The upcoming school year promises to be more challenging than any previous school year. The primary challenges will focus on increasing our performance on the standardized testing. This year saw Bayside with a new challenge when it was designated as a Year 1 Improvement School. One of the changes made this school year was the transition from a three-team to a two-team instructional model. Each team will consists of four teachers with each teacher specializing in a specific core area. This change allowed for greater focus on the core subjects.. Last, but not least, I would like to extend a special “thank you” to all of Bayside’s and Moreno Valley Community Learning Center’s staff. They have performed admirably and are making a difference in your sons and daughter’s education. PARENTS, we still need your increased support in your son’s and daughter’s education. Volunteers, especially for school-site council, are needed and necessary to facilitate improved performance. |
