Involvement Opportunities
There are many opportunities to become
involved at Sugar Hill School. We invite you to read through the
selections and find one that you would like to become a part of.
There are also teacher websites and state education references to
further help you become more involved with your child's education.
If you have any further questions, please call the school office at
(951) 571-4670.

Parent Involvement
Center
All parents are invited
to volunteer in our Parent Involvement Center, held in Room 17.
It is here that parents can directly help the teachers through making
copies of curriculum, cutting out materials, creating needed packets
for students, etc. You decide how long you want to stay each
visit. All help is appreciated.
In the Parent
Involvement Center, you will find baskets of work to do, with clear
and easy instructions explaining what is needed and when it needs to
completed by. There are quick and easy tasks or more time
consuming projects. The office staff will be happy to get you
started and show you how to use the copier machine and die-cuts, and
answer any of your questions.
Any parent who wishes
to volunteer just needs to come in to the office, tell the staff you
are there to volunteer in the Parent Involvement Center, sign in, and
get a visitor's pass. We'll take care of the rest!

ELAC
The
participation of parents and the community is very important to the
success of our school. The education of our children begins at
home and is continued at school. One of the committees
strengthening the link between home and school is the English Learner
Advisory Committee (ELAC). Each school with 21 or more English
learners (ELL), regardless of home-language, must form a functioning
English Learner Advisory Committee. We would like to invite all
parents of English Language Learners to attend our ELAC meetings to be
better informed about how we plan to provide additional support for
your children. Childcare and refreshments will be provided at
all meetings. Everyone is invited!

School Site Council
The
School Site Council is an elected group of teachers, parents, and
classified employees who work with the principal to develop, review,
evaluate and allocate funds for school improvement programs. The
councils are formed to make decisions about how state-allocated school
improvement funds will be spent. Some councils, for instance, might
use funds to develop a new math program, while others may want to hire
a reading specialist. It is the council's responsibility to make
sound decisions based on research and discussion how funds will be
spent for Sugar Hill. School Site Council members don't just
represent their own interests: They have an obligation to make
decisions that will best serve the whole school community.
