Mission and Vision

La Jolla’s vision is to provide an environment where all members of its diverse student population strive to attain high academic achievement. Parents, teachers, students, and the community collaborate to create a safe and supportive climate where individuals are challenged to reach their full intellectual, creative, and physical potential.

Professional	Students, staff, and parents are involved in learning and implementing best practices within a Professional Learning Community. Collaboration within and among grade levels is expected, encouraged, and supported.
Active learners	Students and staff are engaged, active learners who are challenged and motivated to reach their full intellectual, creative, and physical potential.
Trust	A caring climate exists where the diverse nature of students and staff is accepted and celebrated. Trust is promoted through an acceptance of and adherence to the La Jolla norms.
Responsibility	Character education is infused throughout the curriculum in order to teach each child the skills needed to be a responsible citizen. Recognition is provided for those who exhibit positive character traits.
Initiative	We are a community of life long learners. Academic risk-taking and inquiry are encouraged and supported.
Opportunity	Opportunities to reach the whole child are provided through adherence to a rigorous, standards-based curriculum. Opportunities for parents to support the La Jolla vision are provided through parent and community education classes and family nights.
