A Letter from the Principal

Butterfield School

Dear Parents, Students and Staff,

I want to welcome you to the 2006/2007 school year at Butterfield. While we have many challenges ahead of us I know that we are going to work together to make this one of the best years Butterfield ever had.

Parents: We urge you to become very much involved in the education of your children. Join one of our parent groups: PTA, School Site Council, English Learner Advisory Council. Take one of our parent classes: grade level information, Bright Start ( Literacy training ), English classes. Become a school volunteer. Talk to your child’s teacher or the office staff about coming in to spend some volunteer time.

Students: You have a lot of work to do this year. There are new skills to be learned. We will also concentrate on character traits. Those are the skills you need to become a better citizen of our school and community. We need you to help us by following the school rules, doing all of the class work and homework required of you. In the spring we also want you to make your best effort on the STAR tests. While here meet and make new friends, have fun in school and make it one of your best ever.

Staff: We have our work cut out for us also. Our school didn’t make the API score we had hoped for so we need to learn new ways to get the information across to the students. It’ll mean working together more so than we‘ve ever done. It’ll mean focusing as much on learning as we do teaching. It’ll mean finding out the ways in which each child learns best, bonding with all children so they will want to do their best for you. By doing all of that I know we can meet our goals.

In closing, I call on each and every one of you to do your part to make Butterfield a great place to work and learn! By doing so we will accomplish great things!!

Dr. Robert Romero, Principal
