MEXICO MAPPING ASSIGNMENT

 

Follow these steps in this order to create a map of the country of Mexico showing these features:

 

1.  On your blank map of Mexico label the following bodies of water in ink:

Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea

            Gulf of California, Gulf of Mexico, and Gulf of Tehuantepec

Bay of Campeche, and Yucatan Channel

Rio Grande, Santiago River, Balsas River, Conchos River, and Yaqui River (trace these rivers with a blue colored pencil)

 

2.  On your blank map of Mexico label the following in ink:

Yucatan Peninsula

Sonoran Desert

Baja California

Mexico City – (Use a * (star) symbol for this city)

Sierra Madre Occidental, Sierra Madre Oriental, Sierra Madre Del Sur

       (You need to mark these with a symbol – See direction #8 for symbol)

 

3.  Color the Sonora Desert with LIGHT BROWN.

 

4.  Color the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range with GREEN.

 

5.  Color the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range with LIGHT ORANGE.

 

6.  Color the Sierra Madre Del Sur mountain range with YELLOW.

 

7.  Color the rest of the county of Mexico a LIGHT PURPLE.

 

8.  Create a key for your map in ink.

Capital City – (Use a * (star) symbol for this city)

Desert – Light Brown

Oceans/Seas – Blue

Mountains - ∆∆∆ (use a dark brown colored pencil or THIN marker to do

this.):

            Sierra Madre Occidental – Green

            Sierra Madre Oriental – Light Orange

            Sierra Madre Del Sur – Yellow
