An Undeserving Man

        It was a disgrace when the Americans decided to make a monument for Nathaniel Gorham. It is an absolute waste. He did no more than thousands of other Americans in the war he just had more connections. It was simply pig barrel spending. Much like how congress spent 1,190,000,000 dollars on fighter jets just recently. Pig barrel spending is when the legislation is full of goodies for members of congress to distribute to their clients as gifts. The country should not have wasted money on monuments but rather on getting themselves out of debt. They had absolutely no money to spend at the time and yet they decided to build a monument for one unimportant man. If the government had the ability to tax its citizens the monument would have been all right. It is a sad thing when a government can not tax its own people to get out of debt all because of the weak government. The government needed more power. This is just one example of the weaknesses of the articles of confederation.
