Special Announcements

Alessandro School is a K-12 alternative school designed for students with diverse behavioral styles receiving special education services.  This alternative program is an alternative to NPS placement to keep students in the district and to offer a lesser restrictive placement than NPS.

State standards and utilization of the state-adopted textbooks are used to provide a strong base for our academic program.  State-adopted tests, supplementary resources and field trips assist teachers in maximizing the potential for each or our students.  Our high school students also have the opportunity of earning additional credits through ROP, Work Ability, mainstreaming to the home high school and SECO.

Eligibility

The State of California has established eligibility criteria to determine placement into special education.  When a student is considered for an alternative program the IEP process is the vehicle for movement in and out of the program.  Students in grades K-12 are considered for this program when they display severe diverse behavioral styles that interfere with success in general education.

 Mission Statement

Alessandro is an alternative school planned to meet the needs of each individual student.  Our program is designed to promote socially diverse students, a rigorous academic program, a sense of confidence in self and achieving high academic standards.  Through a partnership with school, home and community our students will become career-oriented learners, understand social values and set post-high school goals in a safe and supportive environment.

 Staff

Our staff consists of credentialed special education teachers and skilled instructional assistants.  Other support staff include: a Speech and Language therapist, vision/hearing specialist, OT specialist, district counselor and a school psychologist.  Heath care needs are supervised by the school nurse with daily assistance from a qualified health clerk.

Moreno Valley Selpa Counseling Center (MVSCC) is also an intragul part of the Alessandro program.  Individual, group and parenting sessions are provided on a weekly basis, as needed, by certified MFT’s.
